System center overview
The system center is the link between the bus devices and the visual energy 4 web project. All web requests are processed with this bus master service. It manages the connected devices and, for example, synchronizes the clock times. The service reads the load profile data and events at regular intervals and temporarily saves this information in an internal database. Energy data requests can be processed quickly and safely without the need to access the device memory each time.
The bus master is physically installed on a multisys 2 or multisys 3 embedded system.
Please also observe the notes on the bus master.
The web configuration interface can be opened directly or, if the bus master is registered, also on the visual energy 4 website.
Bus master registration without visual energy 4 web
Start a current version of your web browser. To access the configuration interface, enter the URL http://IP-Adresse/ebusmaster/ (as of version 4.6.4
the URL is http://IP-Adresse/multisys/)
. The login screen is displayed. If you are logging in for the first time or the bus master has not (yet) been registered in a visual energy 4 web project, log in as 'KBRAdmin' with the password: 'kbradmin'. As an alternative, you can log in as an existing user with sufficient user rights (Network data manager role, full access) or use the predefined 'KBR Support' account.
Once you are logged in, a list of all bus masters that you can manage from this interface is displayed. Select the entry you need.
Bus master default settings
Click on the button to access the eBus master properties:
The following settings are possible:
Area | Property | Description | Standard |
---|---|---|---|
General | Name | Free designation of the eBus master. With this designation, the individual systems can be distinguished in settings with several eBus masters. | [Device name] |
Device ID | Unique ID for identification. Please do not change this value! In some situations, however, a replacement of the system is possible by adopting an existing IP address. | ||
Time zone | The eBus master's time zone is important for the system time evaluation, which is periodically sent to the connected bus segments and devices. | UTC +1 | |
SMTP | Activated | Enables or disables the use of an SMTP mail server. | Deactivated |
SMTP server, SMTP port | To send emails, enter the mail server address and port (e.g. 25). | - | |
Max. waiting time | Time in milliseconds until the SMTP server has to respond. | 100000 | |
Sender | The email address of the eBus master that is accepted by the SMTP server. | - | |
Receiver, CC, BCC | The email address(es) of the recipient(s) | - | |
Authentification | If the SMTP server requires authentication, please enter it here. | Deactivated | |
VE3 binding | Activated | Maps a bus segment for older visual energy 3 applications on the specified port. | Activated |
Retries after a timeout | 3 | ||
Ping | 500 | ||
Default | 2000 | ||
Port | 8000 | ||
Max connections | Maximum permissible number of TCP connections. | 100 | |
Add unknown bus devices | With this option, bus devices found by visual energy 3 applications can be included in the eBus master list as well. | Ja | |
Automation - long term data recording | Sending priority |
|
Priority 5: irrelevant |
Automation - long term data recording - load profile recording | Aktivated | With this option, you can enable or disable the load profile consumption data of the connected measuring and recording devices. | Yes |
Detection intervall | Interval specified in hours. In the specified interval, the system attempts to read the unread storage data (consumption values) of all connected devices with a load profile memory and to save this data in the eBus master database. | 1 | |
Time point of the database limitation | The eBus master database is limited at the specified time. The older values are deleted according to the storage time settings and the database is compressed. | 00:10:00 | |
Automation - long term data recording - load profile recording - database | SQL - timeout | Time in seconds the system waits until a connection with the SQL server is established. | 10 |
SQL - server | The connection string indicates the eBus master database. In most cases, this is a local database and should therefore be kept in 'localhost\EBUSMASTER'. | localhost\EBUSMASTER | |
Database | Name of the SQL database. | EbusMasterLoadProfiles | |
Integrated security, User, Password | In a few, exceptional scenarios, the eBus master database could be saved externally. In this case, these indications serve as authentication. | - | |
Automation - long term data recording - energy counter recording | Aktivated | With this option, you can enable or disable the meter consumption data of the connected measuring and recording devices. | Aktivated |

Automation - device check | Check interval | Time in minutes after which the availability of the connected devices is checked. | 60 |
Send emails, Email waiting period | Option to enable/disable the e-mail notification if there is a device availability problem. | Aktivated | |
Automation - detection of new bus devices | Aktivated | With this option, the system searches for new devices at the connected segments in the specified interval. Only enable this option during startup. | Deactivated |
Check interval | Time in seconds. | 8 | |
Automation - time synchronization - system time synchronization | Aktivated | This option enables the use of an external time source to synchronize the eBus master. | Aktivated |
Max. waiting time interval | In the specified interval, the system periodically requests the current (UTC) time from the indicated time server and waits for a response in accordance with the waiting time set. |
Waiting time: 10 seconds Interval: 8h |
|
Time server | URL or IP of the time server (SNTP) | time.windows.com | |
Send emails | Aktivated | ||
Automation - time synchronization - system time synchronization | Aktivated | Option for setting the device clocks. With this option, all connected devices with a clock can be set automatically according to the eBus master’s system time. | |
Check interval | Interval (in minutes) in which the time is sent to the eBus devices. | 60 minutes | |
Minimal difference | Time difference (in seconds) between the eBus master system time and the respective device time from which the device time is set. A very small difference of only a few seconds leads to a frequent setting of the device time and creates unnecessary logbook entries. | 2 seconds | |
Automation - device properties check | Aktivated | With this option, changes (manipulation) of the device parameters, for example by manual input via a local display, can be detected. The reaction to this can be globally defined. | Deactivated |
